Day Fishing Trips

In the Copper River Basin, we have some of the finest fishing Alaska has to offer, without crowds and their associated impact on fishing experience as well as natural resources. We practice and encourage sport fishing techniques endorsed by the Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game so future fishing here will prosper. All fishing gear is provided, including rods, tackle, and bait. If you prefer to use your own tackle, please bring it along. We generally use conventional spin tackle for king salmon, but fly fishing is our specialty. Our goal is to provide our guests with the best fishing experience available in the Copper River Basin.

Duration: half and full day trips
Price: Half Day Fishing Adult - $225 per person

The drainages indigenous species include arctic Grayling, King (Chinook) salmon, Sockeye (Red) Salmon, and one of the most northerly populations of wild Rainbow Trout. The lower Gulkana is known for its great opportunity to ambush extremely fresh salmon headed upstream to their
spawning grounds. The lowest section from the Richardson Highway Bridge to the confluence with the Copper is designated as fly fishing only. This run provides an exclusive opportunity to target both King Salmon and Red Salmon. These waters are very conducive for the beginner as well as the expert fly-fishing enthusiast.  Be sure to ask about custom fishing trips on the Gulkana River. This trip includes water and a snack.

Klutina River Fishing

Duration: half and full day trips
Price: Half day fishing: $225 per person, 4 per boat max
Full day fishing: $325 per person, 4 per boat max

The Klutina River is home to some of the largest King Salmon in the Copper River basin. The intermittent class III whitewater, limited road access, and wilderness setting helps keep the angling pressure down on this river. As a result the Klutina River is one of the best King (Chinook) and Red (Sockeye) Salmon fisheries in the Copper River Basin. Many trophy kings (over 50 lbs) are landed on this river every year. The Klutina River also boasts some of the most consistent sockeye fishing in the region.  Large numbers, and long run timing results in a great opportunities for fishermen. The “Copper River Red” is one of the all time favorites with Alaskans, and is known for its high quality meat, and rich flavor. This trip includes water and a snack.

Tonsina River Fishing

Duration: 8-10 hours
Price: Full day fishing: $375 per person, 4 per boat max

Tonsina river is very similar to the Klutina king and sockeye salmon populations and timing, but that is where similarity ends. This fast glacial fed drainage has a lot more class III and several class IV rapids that have kept the population of anglers willing to challenge the whitewater very low. Our whitewater expertise makes this trip a fun and adventurous mix of whitewater and great fishing with no one else around.

The run is 23 miles so we only offer full day trips with fishing. Typically 8 to 10 hours with transport, lunch and refreshments.

This is also the last river drainage in the upper Copper River Basin with a good Silver Salmon Run. You can explore the Coho fishing opportunities here in late August and September.
